step one: crochet a scarf for yourself

step two: hide scarf in a box because you've moved to a nice warm climate that doesn't require scarves

step three: find said scarf several years later while spring cleaning and put it in a donation bag

step four: remember that you haven't decorated for spring, your front door is bare, and didn't you see a cool idea for a wreath on pinterest a while ago?

step five: buy foam wreath

step six: take apart the scarf and happily repurpose the yarn

step seven: add ribbon and hang
