half the streets in our neighborhood are closed today. pfchangs rock n' roll marathon is happening. my attempt to go to church this morning was shut down because every street i turned down or tried to turn down was blocked off. in my desperation i even went around a barricade only to find myself in the middle of the course, oops. needless to say i backed up quickly to avoid a ticket and scolded myself for not going to church last night like it had originally planned.
thankfully, the course didn't completely block the route to our favorite local coffee shop. i am sitting there now waiting for matt to finish up at the office (emergency patient). when i first arrived i grabbed a cup of joe and headed out to the main street to cheer on the runners. they are a great inspiration to sign up for the marathon next year...being that i DON'T run, i will have to start training now. maybe i'll convince lauren to train for it too and we can do it together...hint hint.
according to weather.com it is currently thirty four degrees and it feels like twenty-eight. that is really really cold when one stands on the sidewalk, not moving, and hands are completely exposed. the only good think i had going for me was that i left the house with my down vest on. i know, i know that you all are probably saying that i shouldn't complain, but i swear it's cold here in the desert.
