only an hour...

would you ever consider driving four hours just to spend one hour at your destination? to some, it's just not worth it. and to others, four hours of driving is nothing compared to one hour of splendor.

this week my aunt debbie and uncle dennis were visiting from illinois and wanted to see a bit more of arizona than just phoenix. we decided to take a day trip to sedona and be back in time for dinner with matt. due to some prearranged morning plans, we were unable to leave before eleven am which meant that our time in sedona would be short. real real short. although i informed them of this fact they still wanted to go. so two hours later we arrived in the red dirt city and i enjoyed watching them ooh and aah over the beauty of it all. after several pictures, a quick lunch, a walk up and down the little street of tourist shops we got back in the car and drove home.

i can't recall ever spending so little time in a city after driving so long to get there and back. so i asked them if it was worth it and without even thinking about it they both answered "yes".

We go to Sedona/Flagstaff/Prescott ALL the time. Drive up in the morning, spend a few hours and back after dark. A little longer than your hour (wow!) but we NEVER spend the night. And I love traveling that way!!!
