secondhand rose...

i don't think i grew up with many "new to me" items. being the fourth girl, i wore passed down clothes from my sisters and played with toys that were also already loved. i did get new things on occasion, on my birthday and christmas for example, but then as i outgrew them i became a passer of things too. i never knew any different, i certainly don't remember knowing any different. once i got something and it was all mine, it felt like new. besides it could have been worse, i could have been the fifth, sixth, or even seventh girl in line.

now that i'm an adult and a consumer myself, i see no problem with recycled items. if clothes still have good wear left and toys are still working, why not? so i am officially passing on the torch. jackson, although the eldest and proud recipient of many new things, will also be wearing passed down clothing and playing with gently used toys. he definitely doesn't know the difference nor does he care. the amount of money we will be saving is just plain awesome and i get to be green too. i love being green.

**a special thanks goes out to the sellers on ebay and craigslist. i am so glad you no longer want that old stuff.**
