requesting a mulligan on the weekend...

saturday was not our day.

sunday wasn't much better.

we probably should have gone back to bed.

having a baby doesn't exactly allow for that anymore though.

big.fat.bummer.

should have taken stubbing my big toe and severely breaking my toe nail as a sign. go.back.to.bed. but jackson had actually slept really well the night before and we were all pretty refreshed. my big weekend plans were to spend quality time together as a family, get some much needed yard work done, and start making homemade baby food. simple and carefree plans. so i disregarded the "sign" and let the weekend begin.

family time: check.
we hopped in the car and made our weekly trek to costco. free plug here: i heart costco. i mean what's not to love? free samples, ginormous quantities, great prices. our cutie patootie even had a good time. sat in the cart all by himself. he was sooo happy and proud.

we stopped at home to drop off our newly purchased groceries before heading out on another errand when i noticed our brand new car withlessthanfortyfivehundredmilesonit had a nice sized scratch and dent. oh, and a note. it had a note. stupid note. sorry you car was parked over the paint lines and I bumped your left front. my # is ***-***-****. SERIOUSLY? you couldn't tell us in person because you knew i was going to go crazy in your face. well, maybe not, because i was raised to be polite and civil. but still. not how i thought my saturday was going to go. (for the record we were parked next to a cart return so that no one would park next to us on that side and yet she managed to fit her car, rather poorly, in between. ugh.)

$1,149.02 estimated damage

yard work: check.
sunday, a new day full of great possibilities. to tell ya the truth it wasn't so bad, it's not as if our car had been hit again. but matt, poor matt, just can't catch a break. he spent a good portion of his afternoon in the hot sun working on the yard. he picked weeds and trimmed trees that had major frost damage. the yard was really starting to take shape. then i asked him to fertilize our orange tree. i had noticed that there weren't many buds and thought that fertilizing it might help. he turned on the watering system to moisten the ground around the tree and when it wasn't working we starting looking around the yard to see why. matt discovered three different leaks in the underground hose that caused several of our plants to not get watered. oh man, again? this time i suggested we move. it may be the only way to recover from this weekend.

oh, and i didn't even mention waking up to a half empty pool saturday morning. this happened before the toe stubbing incident. just think, if i would have gone back to bed after this was discovered i could have saved us all a whole lot of headache.
