like father, like son...

when i was growing up the fourth of july was just a day in the middle of our summer break. we usually went to a park to watch the city's firework display and the highlight was eating popcorn while we waited for it to get dark. i don't think i ever had a sparkler, smoke bomb, snap pop, or anything that required a punk. every blue moon we would get treated to a roman candle or bottle rocket in the backyard, but this was very very very rare.

hands down, the fourth of july is the milana holiday. there is family, food, and more fireworks than a roadside stand. every year we try to make it back to nebraska for the festivities, because they really know how to put on a show. this year was no different, except that jackson got to experience it for the first time. although he was a little surprised by the noise at first, he learned quickly that it wasn't about to stop anytime soon.

what a challenge next year will be when he'll be wanting to light his own fireworks...
