new years eve...

today is new years eve(ning). matt and i are sadly spending it apart, as i was "on call" with southwest and i encouraged matt to celebrate with his family in nebraska. i really didn't think that i would be used due to all of the double time my fellow co-workers were earning, but alas i was called in for a little airport appreciation. this means that i sat at the airport for five hours waiting for either a trip or to eventually go home. fifty minutes before my five hours were to be up, i was called for an albuquerque turn. i immediately left for the gate and by the time i got there i was informed that the flight might not even leave due to bad weather. the passengers deplaned and we anxiously awaited the news from dispatch...going or not going? as luck may have it the flight was canceled just at the moment when my five hours were to expire anyway. i was cleared to go home from our scheduling department and not a minute more was spent appreciating that airport.

matt on the other hand is having quite the white new years. after having a "good ole time" catching up with friends and family in lincoln yesterday, he awoke to approximately four inches of snow. he spent the day watching foolish people try to drive in the unplowed streets, and then got stuck himself just trying to back out his rental car. he and nick (brother) used nick's huge ass truck to tool around the city today visiting more family and eventually towing some of them out of ditches. according to matt's snow report lincoln has had about ten inches of unpredicted snow, which has led to the cancelation of his new years "bus of beer" plans. oh well, maybe next year...

and where ever you may be, please raise your glasses as we toast and look forward to many wonderful things in two-thousand-seven. happy new year to one and all!!
