yield to those in front...

this past saturday was a day for the slopes. matt and i wanted to make the most of our ski day so we got up while it was still dark and drove two hours to flagstaff. after scouting out a decent place to rent skis, we waited in a long line only to discover that the main lift was currently closed and may remain closed for the whole day. regardless of the warning, we took our chances and rented anyway. by the time we got suited up and in another line to get our lift tickets, the main lift opened. it was going to turn out to be a good day.

the first run down was a slow one. i am always a little nervous about vertical drops and speed control so i took my time and survived. for our second trip down the mountain we took the main lift that dropped us off at the top. unfortunately there were only difficult black diamond paths from there so i had to shrug off my cautiousness and hit it. being super busy due to the heavy amounts of snow flagstaff got the weekend before, i let a bunch of people go ahead of me and joined in behind the pack.
however, on the perilous path properly named "cat walk", i was run over by a snowboarder. yes, RUN OVER. i actually saw his looming shadow behind me right before the impact. thank goodness that we weren't too near the edge. he said he thought i was going to turn the other way and that he had timed his turns according to mine...uh, dude don't follow me. didn't he see the caution sticker on my back??

needless to say, i was fine. brushed myself off and continued on my way. although i couldn't help but look over my shoulder the rest of the day...
