snow filled week...

finally back in arizona after my nine day stay in wisconsin. nine wonderful days full of family, fun, and snow! here is a little taste of my visit into the winter wonderland...

my trip began two days after the superbowl was held here in the phoenix area. i arrived at the airport at five am and found it already jam packed full of passengers. not only were the superbowl attendees going home but i also found out that
the chicago airport had been closed the day before leaving many people stranded. i had gone to the airport early to secure a seat on the first flight to chicago, but all the passengers i saw were in line for my flight. i was not going to make that or any other non-stop that day. i took someone's advice to fly to denver and then to chicago, was told that it would be clear sailing all the way. when i got to denver i was bumped off the flight, where i then waited three hours until the next flight. i was desperate to get to chicago, from there i still had a long train ride to milwaukee and then car ride home. desperate because i was trying to out smart a snow storm that was headed in that direction...a snow storm that would eventually strand me.

i got to chicago and jumped on the train that would take me to milwaukee. the people around me gossiped about the storm that had already begun and the rumored inches we were to receive. i hoped they were lying, unfortunately they weren't. half way there my mom called and told me she was turning around. there were cars in ditches and a blizzard in front of her. although i was in shock and a bit panicky (okay a lot), i was resigned to be stuck for the night. i called matt and he helped me get a hotel. i couldn't believe after all that effort i was stuck in a the snow storm that actually closed down the city.

the next day i tried to get ready to leave, but the shower in my room was broken and the front desk said they had no clean rooms for me to switch to. no bother, my mom was gonna get me and take me home anyway. i gave her a call and opened my blinds. i couldn't see more than an arms length in front of me, but i still had high hopes of a rescue. no such luck. my dad said it was too bad out still and i would have to wait until the next day. i accepted the news but was depressed to think that i was missing out on family time and stuck in a crappy hotel room with no shower. once the maids made there rounds i called and got a new room and settled in for the LONG day ahead. after hours of mindless tv, my wonderful snow storm ended that night leaving behind twenty four inches of fluffy snow.

my parents made it down to milwaukee the following day without any troubles and picked me up. i was never so glad to see familiar faces as i was that day. the rest of my visit in wisconsin was much less eventful. i spent most of it in the northwoods where my family stayed in a cabin near brooke and jay's home
