just my luck...

lately i have been making some really awesome purchases...or is it that i am running into gracious store clerks? after hearing my stories i will let you be the judge.

instance #one: king size pillows. just wanted some cheap ones to stuff my pillow shams. who knew they would be so difficult to find?! target was out. walmart had some for $25. bed bath & beyond had a sale 2/$18. ah ha! sold! convenient too because i had to go there anyway to return a too short bedskirt. while making the exchange from bedskirt to two new pillows i asked the sales clerk if my ten dollars off coupon for spending over fifty dollars would still apply. she tells me that it won't be a problem then proceeds to scan in a bar code out of the store's master bar code book. as she finishes ringing me up, i'm told that i have been credited almost the full amount of the bedskirt back. confused but happy i walk out of the store and check out my receipt. apparently she scanned one hell of a bar code because i got both king sized pillows for four dollars! nice.

instance #two: lamp shades. since changing the fan in my guest room, i eliminated any source of artificial light. oops! after stumbling around in the dark one evening i vowed to check out lamps on my next visit to target. ironically enough mix-n-match lamps and shades went on sale this week. i found a combination that i thought would work well for the space and headed to the check out counter. due to the fact that i was buying two of each i only held one shade and one lamp out of the basket for the clerk to scan. upon arriving home i realized that i had two different sized shades and that i would need to go back for an exchange. (i might add that it was my second exchange at target that day!) fortunately for me i had had them scan the smaller and cheaper of the two shades so all i would really have to do was swap out the wrong shade. nope. the return clerk was certain that i had bought two of the more expensive shade, even though the receipt clearly showed otherwise, and gave me, in cash, the difference of the purchase. i explained twice that he was in the wrong but he was sure that i was. well, what was i supposed to do?? i took the money and left.
