what i considered ambient noise, mom and dad thought more an annoyance.
what's that noise? where is it coming from? can you make it stop?
what noise? oh, that's the house. our house noise. air conditioner. front door. fan. our usual creaks, squeaks and rattles. every house has them. well, ours used to have them anyway. our house is now silent. no more rattles, no more squeaks, no more ticks.
my house is not quieter because mom and dad have now gone home, but because they were here. rickety fans were replaced, WD40 took on every screw in the joint, even paint sticks and duct tape were used to dampen vent vibrations...you name it, it's been silenced. and although we are extremely grateful for their visit and their fixes, i just might miss the little house chatter.
