flat stanley takes a road trip...

flat stanley mentioned to us yesterday that phoenix was very hot
and not at all what he was accustomed to. he said that he was beginning
to miss the cool autumn weather of wisconsin.

we didn't want our guest to be uncomfortable,
so we decided to surprise him with a road trip.
we agreed that one of the best ways to show him the diversity
of temperatures in arizona was to take him to flagstaff.

PHOENIX: 100 degrees FLAGSTAFF: 70 degrees
DISTANCE: 145 miles
PHOENIX ELEVATION: about 1117 feet
FLAGSTAFF ELEVATION: about 7000 feet
(above sea level)

flat stanley enjoyed the views on the drive to flagstaff.

here he is hiking a trail at arizona snowbowl.

awesome weather and check out the mountains!

flat stanley tried a bean and cheese burrito and LOVED it!
it may replace the hamburger on the journey home...

of course no road trip would be complete
without a treat on the ride hom
e. YUM!

PS:

you have some serious competition dad.

Looks like Flat Stanley picked the right part of Arizona to visit! Perhaps if you feed him enough Mexican you can have him fart, light him up,and send him home like a rocket! Gavin would truly appreciate transportation like that! Perhaps not so much Stanley...being made of paper and all.

If we get that as a school project I know where to send our Flat Stanley too. Too too cute. Nice job!
