due to the delay of this post, you may have noticed that i took saturday off from painting. clearly i had chosen the brightest aqua out there and we needed a day to figure out how to fix it. having only painted two of the four walls, we teeter-tottered with the idea of just finishing it...because it really wasn't so bad during the day. however, once nightfall hit and we had to turn on the lights...yeah, it was a whole other story. who knew that night time could be so scary??
on sunday i rummaged around in our closet and found some cans of paint that i had used on other rooms in the house. definitely wasn't going to be using the shockingly bright yellow that i had used in the guest bedroom (yes, i apparently have a blind eye to brightness). didn't really want to use tan, as that was what the den was originally. what did that leave us? our kitchen green or our living room green. well, we had more living room green left over so that had my vote. i tried it on one of the unfinished walls and it looked fantastic. i love green...then again, anyone would love it after seeing the aqua.
i taped everything off and started my new project: fix the scariness before matt came home. knowing that i would run out of paint i decided to only paint the two virgin walls. i ran out of paint anyway. with only a very small section left to go, i figured i could just get a quart to complete the job. naturally, the guys at the paint store couldn't sell me the paint i wanted in only a quart size container but were nice enough to sell me a thirty dollar gallon for only eighteen.
we now have a two tone den. we have arranged the computer desk up against the very den-like green half, and will be covering portions of the aqua walls with shelving units and large picture frames. in time we might paint over my mistake, but for now it is fine...and we all know what fine means. besides as an added bonus i got the reaction out of matt that i was expecting, "another green room? great."
