she prepared us for life...

while growing up in the vater house we had to do chores aka jobs. come saturday, our jobs usually doubled as we did major house cleaning. we had to start them by ten am and hopefully finish before the family did something fun. beginning young, we did small things like dusting which eventually graduated into vacuuming and then the almighty "mom's helper". mom's helper had to do anything she needed, such as scrubbing the floors, washing the windows, etc. i didn't mind being mom's helper...if she was extremely busy she sometimes forgot to assign us anything, however if she remembered it was most likely something dreadful and tedious.

the milana house (matt and mine not matt's parents) have saturday jobs too...although it falls on whatever day that i have off from work. matt doesn't understand the regularity of these jobs. "didn't you just do that?" is what i am up against. did we sound like that growing up?? all i know now is that if i don't do some sort of cleaning, the week doesn't feel right. i just know that the dirt is there and it needs to be cleaned up now or pile up higher for next week. but it's fine, i am used to it, i have been well trained.

today i tackled my windows. gosh do they sparkle!! i even vacuumed out the window sills and rid them of all dust and dirt. if you have never been to the desert then take my word on it that dirt gets everywhere!! and although it's not as fun as hanging out a second story window and dodging dead flies, there was a great sense of accomplishment in completing the task before starting something fun.
