matt treated me to my first drive-in movie yesterday. yes, my very first. it's shocking, i know. he couldn't believe it either.the only movie that we both wanted to see was the new Indiana Jones film. so we checked the show times, bought some snacks for in the car, found the perfect parking spot, tuned the radio accordingly, reclined our seats, and rolled down the windows. we had great weather and i couldn't wait for the good times to begin.
and then i discovered the reasons why indoor theaters are more popular. cars arrived after the movie started, distracting me with their headlights. the radio kept picking up a music station and had a constant hum in the background for sixty percent of the film. i got uncomfortable in the car (which is why i hate road trips) and i had to pee. and lastly the picture wasn't very sharp. ...leading me to believe that i am spoiled.
despite the above complaints i did like the experience. it was only six dollars and twenty five cents a person, there was a double feature (which we didn't end up staying for because it was late), and it was just something different to do. next time we plan on: not drinking so much before we go, taking my car so that we don't pick up additional radio stations, and packing a pillow and blanket for comfort. oh, i can hardly wait!!
