please won't you be my neighbor?...

as the familiar tune of mr. rogers' intro song runs through your head, imagine being our neighbor. quiet neighborhood, no dogs barking, close to the airport, swimming pool, mature trees, and if i may say so kick ass neighbors to the west. did i mention no snow in the winter??

what? really? am i serious? well yes. our neighbors next door officially moved out this past weekend and are putting their home on the market. it sure was a surprise to us. obviously we are not that neighborly. yes, that means the goat and chickens are gone. the noisy kids coming in at two am are gone. the beer cans and mini liquor bottles left on the street and sidewalk in front of our house will be no more. and the once manicured lawn is now becoming overgrown. they are gone, gone, gone. they found five acres in a beautiful part of phoenix, built a house, and left us. oh darn, i didn't even get to say bu-bye!! (maybe i didn't open that bottle of wine in vain after all!)

so here's hoping that a nice young couple will move in next door. someone with NO dogs. someone that will NOT talk outside my bedroom window at two am, about "oh my god, did you see what she was wearing? like, gross!" someone that will want to come over and barbecue on sundays. someone that we can borrow a cup of sugar from. someone that will be like us of course: quiet, fun, friendly, and did i say quiet?

That's what we've been praying since the house next door went on sale. . . so far we've had a rotating door of people who haven't been there long enough for us to meet!! But here's hoping the next one invites us to their pool!!!
